Might be lacking for a bit.
-The Obshmectively Correct David Bowie Tier List:
This is probably the only thing I have enough knowledge to make a tier list for.
- Heathen is his best album, by far, masterpiece after masterpiece.
- Station to Station is a good contender for the number one spot too, masterpiece after masterpiece, never overstays its welcome.
- Hunky Dory's got his most iconic songs in it, masterpiece.
- Aladdin Sane isn't talked about enough, it seems the cover art is more talked about than the album itself, it's as good as Hunky Dory I'd say, some of his best early work.
- Ziggy, cmon now.
- Space Oddity is an absolutely incredible album and shit on too much, the whiplash between the first song and the rest of the album is true, but it's insanity to me that people don't talk about the songs in here often, I think it's honestly some of his best and most emotionally charged work, it's got quit a lot of rare intimate Bowie stuff in it, sort of shows his mind back when he was struggling to make ends meet. I mean I'm at the prime of my life right now (54) so maybe the youthful tone of the music there is what draws me.
- Diamond Dogs, byautuiful Broadway-type songs. Dunno about that last song though.
- Blackstar, very deep album ig, there always seems to be something more so on the surface than what I seem to hear in it's music, but I can't make it out, maybe it's placebo knowing the story behind it.
- Man Who Sold the World, Midge Ure did it better in my opinion, but goddamn this has some really good tunes in it.
- Scary Monsters is probably his best album of all time until you reach the second half of it, the beginning goes so strong though it baffles me the song choices used after Teenage Wildlife.
- Next Day has incredible songs, shit cover though.
- I get it man, but Low is so incredibly overrated it deducts some points out of itself because of how much hubbub is behind it, with it being a good album at the end anyways, probably one of the only albums I can listen the instrumentals of to and be engaged.
- Reality has some incredible songs, shittier cover though.
- Young Americans, it's got beautiful gospel music, but sometimes when I see the cut tracks, I feel a great sense of disappointment because I feel like this would be his greatest album of all time if he made the right chocies in its final stages. They're better than what's on the album itself.
- Lodger, love it, the weird western oriental view to it is so cool, very disjointed sounding at certain parts, like a diet Scary Monsters.
- I don't care I like it I think it's fun and gets hated on too much.
- Listen man, I love the title and end track but these songs are really lame >:(
- Let's Dance never really piqued my interest apart from being catchy, it's a little like water and bread to me, nice to sing along to though.
- I feel like I put Outside and Earthling too low, I do love the sound he goes for in these albums, but man it feels like with the vibe and sound, it could have been executed in a more flawless manner, would probably make it one of my favourite albums if it was honestly, it's just a little underwhelming.
- I honestly feel like I should put his first album a bit lower but it's so charming I don't care if it's better than Earthling.
- I love like 2 songs on Hours I think they're some of his best work, too bad the album is shit.
- I don't care to tell you the truth, but it definitely felt cohesive listening to it, it just didn't interest me apart from a few songs.
- I love 1 song on this I think it's some of his best work, too bad the album is shitter.
- Nah brother, just give me Sorrow and discard the rest.
- There is nothing noteworthy about this album apart from the 2 references it makes to older, better songs in its title track.
-Pocket Mirror to Digital Camera:
The flawless, bumpless and blemishless future is here.
In a few yonks (years in english, yarrs in pirate), people will become so infatuated in appearances and comparisons of such appearances with others, that the human contact that truly soothes the soul will be replaced by pre-set emotions, facial expressions and body movements that attempt very desperately to make the user of them feel attractive. It's all about viewing the world at a distance now, put that filter on, as to not see the inconsistencies carved on your skin, make it seem like it's being viewed from a distance.
It doesn't appear that we were wired to see ourselves, a glance in a river stream may have sufficed in order to make our ancestors understand that they are still themselves. The invention of the mirror offering a clear view wasn't enough it seems, now those images can be saved with a camera, with developments in technology allowing pictures to be taken in higher quality, with the resolution showing every bit of detail. But you don't like that do you? Your pustuly, asymmetrical face looking like a kitchen sponge isn't exactly comfortable to look at, you would rather apply a digital filter onto it, not accepting that you're lying to yourself.
This feels like it would homogenise what people find appealing, is that not correct? All of a sudden, looks and features can be placed into boxes, people can pick and choose what parts they find appealing and try to imprint them on oneself, do you think eugenics arguments will be raised up once this occurs? That's where your plastic surgery, your excessive caked on makeup, your facial tape and your facial implants come in if I were to make an honest guess, give your associates a reason to fall prey to the Capgras Delusion.
No more flaws to be seen, why even put in the effort of trying to take care of yourself when software can make you a different person? In the future, facial models will be made, people on the internet will comparatively look completely different, mixing in a myriad of facial traits that they find visually appealing in an attempt to play doppleganger to this non-flesh set of data. You could even get your own set of expressions and a tried and trusted personality that wouldn't cause strife or harm or cause offense to anybody, allowing people to put you in a box in order to neglect thinking or getting to know you. What's there to know? Everyone knows what your responses to every possible question in their mind could be, it may be your first meeting, but they've seen something like you so many times before.
